Mapping Houston in Space-Time

Byron South
Saturday, 2:20pm – 20 min

OSM - a Space & Time Machine.

Leveraging WMS and WFS, we want to show how multiple sensor observations, spanning months and years, can enrich the tracing experience, enrich OSM, and improve the end-user benefits. Where relevant we’ll highlight where changes could be made to improve OSM value.

The results following Hurricane Harvey in Houston are significant and in our talk we aim to highlight how OSM and multi-temporal imaging and mapping tech can help complete the picture. We will focus our talk on mapping infrastructure change in the metro Houston area to highlight the extents and types of changes associated with natural disasters. There will be no political-environmental agenda, just facts drawn from our OSM mapping exercise.
