As the Engineering Manager of the Venues team at Foursquare, I work closely with the Superuser community that maintains our place database and moderates edits suggested by other users. I propose a talk to compare and contrast Foursquare and OSM as community data sources with respect to the following: the people that make up the community, how they are kept motivated and engaged, how they communicate with each other, and the reputation systems and editing tools that allow them to reflect changes in the real world. I hope to include the perspectives of members of both communities and suggest ways in which these two systems could learn from each other.
