The National Map Corps (TNMCorps) is a US Geological Survey (USGS) citizen science effort which supports the National Geospatial Program by providing volunteered geographic information (VGI) in support of The National Map and US Topo Maps. Using an online mapping application, volunteer editors confirm or update structures including hospitals, cemeteries, post offices, schools, law enforcement, and fire stations. TNMCorps incorporates a variety of approaches with the intent of motivating and engaging volunteers while simultaneously enhancing data quality and focusing efforts in high priority areas.

In August of 2016, TNMCorps was contacted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requesting assistance with their emergency response to the flooding in Louisiana, which included the deployment of a web mapping application. In order to speed assistance to flood victims, TNMCorps volunteers were requested to identify residential and commercial buildings over six parishes in southern Louisiana.
